Explain Priority encoder with an example.

Priority encoder- Basically an encoder is a combinational circuit which performs the inverse operation of a decoder. The input code has, the device is generally termed an encoder, if a device output code has fewer bits.
For example: 2n-to-n, priority encoders. The easiest encoder is a 2n-to-n binary encoder, where this has only one of 2n inputs = 1 and the output is the n-bit binary number consequent to the active input.
One of the main commonly utilized input devices for a digital system is a set of ten-switches, one for each numeral in between 0 and 9.
