Q. Explain P Trap?

Trap is a depressed or bent sanitary fittings which always remains full of water it is water seal.

Its functions are to prevent passage of foul air or gases but at the same time allows flow of sewage through it.

Effectiveness of trap depends on depth of water seal ( Varies from 25 to 50 mm )

Requirement of a good trap as under -

i. It should be capable of being easily cleaned.

ii. It should be easily fixed with drain.

iii. Simple.

iv. Passes adequate water seal.

v. Surface should have smooth finish.

According to shape the traps are of the following three type -

1. P Trap. 2. Q Trap. 3. S Trap.
