Q. Explain Microcode and VLSI Technology?

It is considered that CU of a computer be assembled using two ways; create micro-program which execute micro-instructions or construct circuits for every instruction execution. Micro-programmed control permits the implementation of complex architectures more cost effective than hardwired control as cost to expand an instruction set is very small only a few more micro-instructions for control store. So it may be reasoned that moving subroutines such as string editing, integer to floating point number conversion and mathematical evaluations like polynomial evaluation to control unit micro-program is more cost effective.
