You would realize that the soil contains greatest varieties of microorganisms. It actually serves as a medium for growth and development of various microorganisms. In fact, if microbiologists want to search for new kinds of microorganism, they usually turn to soil. The soil is the most important source of heat-resistant spore forming bacteria. Important microorganisms associated with soil include Bacillus, Clostridium, Enterobacter, Escherichia, Micrococcus, Alcaligenes, Flavobacterium, Chromobacterium, Pseudomonas, Proteus.
