Explain Ketones

The ketone bodies accumulate in the blood in impaired glucose metabolism as in starvation and diabetes mellitus. The high levels of ketone bodies are excreted in the urine. Ketone bodies include acetone, acetoacetic acid and beta-hydroxybutyric acid.
