Galvanometer:

1. An electromechanical instrument, which is used to detect the presence of current in a circuit is known as galvanometer.

2. The major parts of a galvanometer are following.

a. U-shaped magnet whose north and south poles are made concave

b. Rectangular coil made by winding insulated copper wire on a non magnetic material.

c. A suspended strip to hold the coil.

d. Soft iron core

e. Spiral spring

f.  Scale, pointer and a source of light.
