Explain Domain calculus
Domain calculus is one of the types of the relational calculus. The formal specification of the domain calculus was planned after the development of the QBE system. Domain calculus has the variables range in excess of single value from domains of attributes. To create a relation degree n for a query result, we should have n domain variables - one for each attribute. An expression of the domain calculus is of the form {X | F(X)}
In which F is a formula on X and X denotes a set of domain variables. The expression characterizes X like F(X) is true.
Define check point and its impact on data base recovery. Ans: There could be hundreds of transactions handled per minute, in a large on-line database system.
For each m:n relationship type R, we make a new table (say S) to represent R. We also contain the primary key attributes of both the participating entity types as a foreign key att
Problem : (b) A deductive database system is essentially the outcome of applying mathematics logic to database management, where logic is used for both data representation and
What is meant by data-transfer rate? The data-transfer rate is the rate at which data can be retrieved from or kept to the disk.
What is the main difference between read-only and update methods? A read-only method does not affect the values of a variable in an object, whereas an update method may alter t
Discuss the count function? The COUNT function used returns the number of tuples or values fixed in a query. The count function comprises two types of syntax: (1) COUNT (*)
What is a database? At any given time, they're storing a tremendous amount of information - inventory, in the case of Amazon, messages and interrelationships in the case of Tw
Relational Algebra is a set of basic operations used to influence the data in relational model. These operations allow the user to specify basic retrieval request. The result of re
What do you mean by persistence? How you will make your data persistent? Persistent data is the data, which has a longer lifetime than program which has created it. Enabling th
Explain the Deferred Update The deferred update methods do not physically update the database on disk till after a transaction reaches its commit point; after that the updates
