Explain design parameters, Computer Engineering

Assignment Help:

Explain the following design parameters

S, SC, TC, C, CCI, EUF, K, TS

The various terms are given below:

S: Total number of switching components

A good design should attempt to minimize the number of switching components

SC: Switching capacity

 Maximum number of simultaneous calls which can be supported through the switching system

TC: Traffic handling capacity

Traffic Handling Capacity is specified by Switching capacity /Theoretical maximum load

C: Cost of switching system

C = S x CS + CC + CCh

Here CS, CC, CCh are cost per switching component, cost of common control system and cost of the common hardware correspondingly.

CCI: Cost capacity index

It is switching capacity/cost per subscriber line

EUF: Equipment utilization factor

It is number of switching elements in operation while the SC is completely utilized/total number of switching elements in system

K: Number of switching stages

TS: Call setup time

TS = TST x K + TO

Here TO is the time needed for function other than switching and Tst is average switching time/stage.
