Explain Control of Oedema in Nutritional Care?

Low levels of circulating proteins lead to oedema due to loss of colloidal osmotic pressure to maintain the normal fluid shift mechanism between the capillaries and the surrounding tissues prior to clinical oedema, considerable fluid collects in the interstitial spaces affecting heart and lung action. Local oedema at the site of surgery also delays closure of the wound and the healing process.
