Explain CERCLA and SARA - Hazardous Waste Regulations

In 1980, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) was enacted to address those problems.
Commonly referred to as "Superfund"
The provisions were extended by the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act (SARA) of 1986
Established to give EPA authority and funds to clean up abandoned waste sites and respond to emergencies. This was greatly expanded by SARA.
