Explain Acute Phase Proteins

Following any infection, there is a rise in concentration of several plasma proteins. The best known amongst them are C- reactive proteins (CRP) which adheres to the surface of a number of microorganisms. These CRF coated organisms can activate complement system. This, in turn, facilitates phagocytosis.
