Explain about the Stilbenes?

Stilbenes contain 3 phenyl compounds connected by a 2-carbon methylene bridge and occur in nature in restricted distribution. In plants, they act as anti-fungal phytoalexins, usually synthesized only in response to infection/injury. The most extensively studied is trans-reservatrol, present in grapes, wine and peanuts. Red wine contains 1.5-3.0 mg/L.
