Mathematical models of pulse vaccination illustrates that in addition to its logistical advantages, pulse vaccination may assist eradicate disease by driving disease for the moment to extremely low levels and by synchronizing epidemics in different populations, permitting for stochastic extinction of disease in the whole population.
