Explain about the Dielectric  Breakdown

Dielectric  Breakdown  of  a  dielectric  material  is  because of the excitation of electrons into the conduction band across energy gap under  conditions  of  excessive  voltage,  resulting  in an  avalanche  of conducting electrons and consequent physical breakdown.
