Tissue thickness can be measured similar to ridge mapping or sounding procedure, wherein after anesthetizing the tissue with local infiltration a sharp probe or preferably a graduated probe such as a periodontal probe is penetrated to hit the crestal bone and the with the help of a stopper or a marker the tissue height can be marked and measured after removing the probe.
