What is ablation?
Ans) Ablation is a technological term for the loss of snow and ice from a glacier. The process happens by a combination of the two physical processes, melting, and evaporation, caused by the warming of the relevant ice on the glacier. It might be thought this would be most common at the top of a glacier, though actually it occurs more at the foot - for the easy reason that temperatures tend to be higher here.
