Line AB was drawn with a magnetic bearing of 136° 45′ while the magnetic declination was 2° 30′ east In an old map. If magnetic declination is 3° 30′ west to what magnetic bearing the line should be set now?

Solution: Referring to given figure, it is clear that

Present magnetic bearing of line AB

= 3° 30′ + 2° 30′ + 136° 45′

= 142° 45′        Ans.
