In a double acting vertical steam engine running at speed of 360 r.p.m., cylinder diameter is 25 cm, stroke is 30 cm, diameter of piston rod is about 3.75 cm and length of the connecting rod is 60 cm. When the crank has moved 120o from T.D.C., the pressure of steam at cover end is 35 x 104 N/m2. and at crank end is 3 x 104 N/m2. if the mass of the reciprocating parts is 45 Kg evaluate :

(iv) Piston effect

(v) Turning moment on the crank shaft for the given crank position.
