Essay on report and justification, English

Assignment Help:

This assessment item relates to the course learning outcomes numbers 1 to 3 as listed on Page 1.

Assignment task

This involves writing a proposal based on the following scenario, supported by a justification.

Scenario

You work for a large business organisation that wants to attract high school students to careers in fields important to its operations. The company has decided to devote some resources to informing students about such careers and encouraging them to enter relevant university programs. Imagine you have been asked to investigate the best way of getting students interested in these careers. Many options have been suggested: expanded work experience with the company, taking students on tours of company operations, company representatives to visit schools, a website. The company can only afford to implement one option. It wants to be sure that whatever strategy it chooses will make students enthusiastic about these occupations. Decide which strategy is most feasible. You are not confined to those mentioned.

Short report (800-900 words; report style)

Write a report on what method the organisation should use to achieve its goal. It is up to you what type of organisation you use (e.g. IT, construction, marketing). You can use an organisation within your field of study. You can invent any details to 'fill out' the scenario as long as they are consistent with the above. Headings are used in the report but you do not need the apparatus that would be used in an elaborate report such as table of contents.

Justification (1,100-1,200 words; essay style)

The second part of this assignment is a justification for your report. This is a separate piece that must address why you wrote the report the way you did, using Locker and Kaczmarek's PAIBOC principles. The justification is NOT a further discussion about your idea-it should refer back to the report and how the report was written. This part of the assessment must be written in essay style. Your report and justification are TWO separate written pieces. You must use at least four resources (in addition to your text and study materials) relating to report writing and principles of effective communication to support the argument in your justification. You are expected to correctly reference your sources using Harvard referencing.
