All eukaryotic cells have distinct shapes, and are also capable of assuming different shapes. 'The internal organelles of a cell are also capable of migrating from one location to another in a precise manner. Thus, the cell must be endowed with some mechanism to keep the internal structures in their proper places, and also to control their movements. The cell is able to achieve this task by an internal scaffolding system called the cytoskeleton.
