Elucidate in brief the functions of the clock generator chip, 8284.

8284 Clock generator: 8284 is an ancillary component to the microprocessors. Without clock generator, many extra circuits are essential to generate the clock in a microprocessor based system. An 8284 provides the following fundamental signals orfunctions: Clock generation, READY synchronization, RESET synchronization and a TTL-level peripheral clock signal.
