Electricity (i.e., electric current) is a flow of electric charges.

  • In metals, it is the flow of electrons.
  • In electrolytes, it is the movement of ions.
  • In a chemical cell, some chemical reactions involve transfer of electrons.
  • We can get electricity from the electron transfer reactions that occur in chemical cells:
