Q. Effectiveness of a recruitment programme?
The total recruitment programme should be evaluated in the light of its objective and costs involved. For this purpose, various quantitative and qualitative criteria can be developed to measure the effectiveness of a recruitment programme. Such criteria may be of the following nature:
1. Type of organizational image that has been stages to recruitment and selection process.
2. Number of applicants received.
3. Number of applications rejected at different stages of recruitment and selection process.
4. Ratio of candidates selected and rejected.
5. Ratio of candidates selected and candidates joined.
6. Number of candidates joined and candidates retained over a period time say six months or one year.
7. Performance of the candidates joined and remained with the organization.
8. Costs involved in recruitment programme.
Such an evaluation may provide clue to the organization for developing its strategy for further recruitment programmes. For example if a particular method reveals that candidates selected have either not joined the organization or they have left it within no time the organization may be cautions not to adopt the same method in the immediate in future.
