Assignment Help:
A rectangular plate has two holes of dimensions shown and is released from the position shown. The plate is hinged about a horizontal axis and can rotate in the vertical plane. An external moment of magnitude 110 N-m is applied in the counter clockwise direction as shown. A frictional moment of magnitude 10 N-m resists the rotation. The specific weight of the material is 250 lbs / ft3. Assume uniform density.
(a) Calculate the mass moment of inertia of the plate about the axis of rotation
(b) Find the moment created by the weight of the plate about the axis of rotation
(c) Find the angular acceleration of the plate at the instant it is released.
(d) What is the angular acceleration if the plate was rotating in horizontal plane?
