Question
What is dissimilarity between air chamber and surge tank?
Answer
Air chambers and surge tanks are usually set up in watermain to ease stress on scheme what time valves or pumps abruptly begin and shut down. A surge tank is an assembly room containing fluid that is in direct contact with atmosphere. For helpful surge, tank is capable of store excess water, so preventing the water pipes from development and water from compression. In down surge, surge tank possibly will provide fluid to avoid formation of vapour column separation. Though, if surge pressure to be relieved is very large, height of surge tank has to be designed to be excessively large and now and again it is not cost-effective to make such a chamber. On contrary, an air chamber can exist adopted in this case as air chamber is an enclosed chamber with under pressure gases inside. Pressure head of gas inside air chamber is a component to combat hydraulic transient. Though, air chamber has demerits that regular continuance has to be approved out and proper design of force level of gas has to be conducted.
