Disciplinary action is the action taken by the supervisor or owner against the any activity of indiscipline by the employee.

According to Edwin B. Flippo, "disciplinary action is a negative motivation because it discourages the employees from repeating the mistakes in future through the punishment or the fear of punishment".

According to Michael J. Jucious, "Disciplinary action means the steps taken of an order and to remove the reasons of such disobedience".
Forms of the Disciplinary action / types of punishment: when a delinquent employee is going to be punished, the type of punishment should be commensurate with the severity of the omission or misconduct.
