Dihydric alcohols - Hydrocarbon

These are compound consisting of two hydroxyl sets. These are dihydroxy components of alkanes. Their common formula is AnH2n+2O2. The very simple and most significant dihydric alcohol is ethylene glycol. They are categorized as α, β, ϒ glycols, as per to the relative position of two hydroxyl groups. α is 1, 2 glycol, β is 1, 3 glycol.
