Diffrence between rowe cell and oedometer apparatus, Civil Engineering

Assignment Help:

Q. Diffrence between Rowe cell and Oedometer apparatus?

The benefits of using Rowe cell over oedometer apparatus are:

(i)  It possesses control facilities for drainage and for measurement of pore water pressure.

(ii) It is capable of testing larger diameter soil samples. Therefore more reliable data can be provided by using Rowe's cell due to the relatively smaller effect of structural viscosity in larger specimens.

(iii)Rowe cell uses hydraulic loading system that is less susceptibleto effect of vibration than oedometer apparatus.
