Difference between normal bolts and high friction grip bolts, Civil Engineering

Assignment Help:

Question

What is key difference between normal bolts and high friction grip bolts?

Answer

High friction grip bolts are usually used in structural steelwork. They in general contain high tensile potency bolts and nuts with washers. Bolts are tightened to a shank tension so that transverse load across joint is resisted by friction between plated rather than bolt shank's shear power.
