Dicarboxylic acids

The acids consisting of two carboxylic groups are known as dicarboxylic acids.

The saturated dicarboxylic acid are denoted by the general formula 2n (COOH)2 in which n = 0, 1, 2, 3 etc.

As per to IUPAC system, the suffix-dioic acid is added to the name of parent alkane, that is Alkane dioxic acid.
