Determine the total head and total pressure of water, Civil Engineering

Assignment Help:

Determine the total head and total pressure of water flowing at  in a pipe which has the following data:

Flow= 2,500 gpm; Elevation = 30 ft; Pressure = 40 psi; Pipe Diameter = 12 inch; velocity = 7 ft/sec; ??water = 62.4 lb/ft3.

Solutions: Ep = (40 psi)(2.31 ft/psi) = 92.4 ƒt

Ev = (V2/2g ):= (7)2 / (2)(32.2) = 0.76 ƒt

Ez = 30 ƒt

H = Total Head = Ep + Ev + Ez = 92.4 ƒt + 0.76 ƒt + 30 ƒt = 123.2 ƒt

P = Total Pressure = γH = (62.4 lb / ƒt3)(123.2 ƒt) = 7,688 lb/ ƒt2 = 53.3 psi
