An 8 kN.m moment is applied at the end of a block fixed into the ground as illustrated in thefigure below. The moment vector (double arrow head representation) acts in line with the end plane of the block at an angle of 30° as illustrated.

a) Determine the stresses at the corners of the section of the block.

b) Determine the position of the neutral axis.

c) Draw a sketch to represent the stress distribution on the section. Include the neutral axis in your sketch.
