Determine the major foot problem in diabetic patient

The American Diabetic Association (ADA) has estimated that 50% of the limbs with foot ulcers can be saved if both the health care provider and the patient fulfil their respective responsibilities.

It is important to remember that the major foot problem in diabetic patient occurs because of neuropathy (75-90%). Chronic Complications of Diabetes Mellitus and Management regarding neuropathy. Nerve function impairment takes place in diabetic patient due to various reasons including metabolic and poor blood supply to nerves.  Assessment and management of diabetic neuropathy is often overlooked or forgotten. But to save the diabetic foot from ulcer or amputation it is the prime duty of the foot care provider to check the status of neuropathy.
