What is the valve that separates? What is its function?

The valve that divides the stomach from the duodenum is the pylorus. It has the function of keeping the food bolus within the gastric cavity for enough time to permit the gastric digestion to take place. It also has the function of stop the intestinal content from going back into the stomach.
