Determine about the Lee-McCall system

In the Lee-McCall system, high-tensile strength bars of diameter varying from 12 to 40 rnrn are used as tendons. These bars are threaded at the ends. After tensioning, each bar is anchored with the help of a nut and a washer held tightly against the end plates. An end plate or a bearing plate is a flat plate bearing directly against concrete. In this anchorage system, loss of prestress due to anchorage slip is eliminated as nuts are tightened well before the tendons are released. At the same time, one drawback is that curved tendons can not be used while adopting this anchorage system. This system of anchorage is shown in Figure.
