Answer

While designing water storage tanks, group joints can be set up in similar with steel reinforcement. To manage movement of concrete due to migratory variation of temperature, hydration temperature drop and reduction. Two primary methods in design are used- to plan closely spaced steel reinforcement to cut down spacing of cracks, thereby dropping crack width of cracks; to initiate movement joints to let a portion of movement to occur in joints.
