Describe the term Physiotherapy?

Patients who are sedated, intubated and ventilated are not able to deep breathe, cough and clear secretions. Hence, it is important to do chest physiotherapy to mobilise secretions and also to prevent collapse of the lung. Tracheal suctioning needs to be done at regular intervals - the frequency would depend on the amount of secretions present.
