Describe the operation of a transistor amplifier in CE configuration.

Ans:  Operation  of  a  Transistor  Amplifier  in  CE  configuration:   A  Common  Emitter  NPN transistor is demonstrated in fig. (a). When a signal is applied in emitter-base junction, during positive half cycle, forward bias across this junction increases. This increases the flow of electrons from emitter to collector via base and hence increases the collector current. Increased collector current produces more voltage drop across the collector load resistor  RC.   Though,  during  negative  half  cycle  of  the  signal,  forward  bias voltage across the emitter-base junction decreases. This decreases the collector current which  consequently  decreases  the  voltage  drop  across  collector  load  resistor  RC. Thus, an amplified signal appears across the collector load resistor.
