Definition of a neuropsychological test
The best definition of a neuropsychological test has been offered by Ralph Reitan, who described it as a test that is sensitive to the condition of the brain. If performance on a test changes with a change in brain function, then the test is a neuropsychological test. However, neuropsychological assessment is not restricted to the use of only neuropsychological tests. It should also contain some tests that are often useful for providing a baseline against which the extent of impairment associated with acquired brain damage can be measured.
