Define thrashing.
Thrashing is the accident of high page traffic and low CPU utilization. It is observed that the cause of thrashing is an under-commitment of memory to programs. The cure is to enhance the memory allocation for each program. This may perhaps have to be achieved by removing some programs from the memory that is by decreasing the degree of multiprogramming.

Page fault is a trap to the software gained by the hardware when a process accesses a page that is goes in the virtual address space, but not added in physical memory. In the har
Explain fixed partitioning. Partitioning are the simpler techniques that don't involve virtual memory. Partitioning has been used in numerous variations in operating systems.
Define CPU scheduling. CPU scheduling is the method of switching the CPU among several processes. CPU scheduling is the basis of multiprogrammed operating systems. By switching

What is reference string We evaluate an algorithm by running it on a definite string of memory reference and computing the number of page faults. The string of memory reference
Define UnixWare UnixWare manages resources at the process level. Each resource allocated to the application is actually allocated to the process representing the application. C
Priority Scheduling leads to the risk of starvation: a process is ready, but never is given the processor. Some preemptive priority schedulers therefore reserve a fraction of the p
