Glycemic or sugar control

The control of blood sugar is one of the most important factors of good care for the diabetic patient. It has been shown that good glycemic or sugar control will reduce the long term complications of diabetes.

There are two primary targets to assess the effectiveness of sugar control, that is:

1) Self-Monitoring of Blood Glucose (SMBG) and

2) HbA1c measurement.

They are the major tools for assessing good glucose or sugar control
