Define the term - Clamp splice

In a Clamp splice, bolts and nuts alongwith clamp plates are used. Tendons are held in-between the clamp plates and these clamp plates are tightened with the help of bolts and nuts, as shown in Figure There is a considerable reduction in the tensile strength of tendons (say, utpo 50%) due to the use of this splice. This is why, the use of this type of splice is recommended in locations where the prestressing force may be sufficiently reduced, e.g. due to the curvature of tendons.
