Immunoglobin E (IgE) helps to eliminate parasites (helminthes) and is responsible for classic allergic reactions commonly referred to as food hypersensitivity or food allergy a reaction that occurs when the immune system reacts to the normally harmless food protein that the body has erroneously identified as harmful.
