Software development underwent revolutionary changes. Rather than a programming teamin an organisation, full-fledged software companies evolved (known as software houses). A software houses primary business is to produce software. As software house mayoffer a range of services, including hiring out of suitably qualified personnel to work within client's team, consultancyanda complete systemdesignand development service. Output of these companies was 'Software'. Hence, they viewed the software as a product and its functionalityasa process. Concept of software engineering was introduced and Software became moredisciplined, strategic and commercial.
