Define the Basic Components of an N.C System

The basic components of an N.C system are as follow:

a) Programmer of Instruction: - It is a set of direction which will tell the machine tool what to do. It is coded in numerical or symbolic form on some type of input medium such as one inch wide.

b) Machine controller unit (M.C.U):- It consists of the electronics and hardware that read and interpret the program of instruction and convert it in to mechanical action of the machine tool.

c) Machine tool or other controlled process: - It performs the useful work. A machine tool consists of the following.

1) Work table and work fixtures

2) Spindle

3) Cutting tools

4) Motors and controls for drives

5) Other auxiliary equipment needed in machining operation.
