Assignment Help:

Define other consideration for Nutrient Requirement and Dietary Management

Oral intake is generally feasible only during the anabolic phase wherein the patient should be given a high-energy, high protein, micronutrient rich diet. The diet should have a small volume; it should be nutrient dense and easy to digest. A two hourly feeding schedule or a 6-7 meals/ day pattern should be ndopted.

- Oral feeding may be supplemented with enteral nutrition to be able to replenish the depleted nutrient reserves.

- Most of the patients are depressed and may need encouragement by family and medical team to promote adequate food consumption.

- Anabolic steroids such as oxandrolone are often combined with a high protein diet to promote weight gain and enhance anabolism at the site of wound.
