Define Fuel Molecules and Lipogenesis?
Lipogenesis is a collective name for the complex process of producing lipids (fatty acids) from smaller precursor molecules. The synthesis of long-chain fatty acids occurs primarily in the liver in many animals. The flux of carbon through this pathway is slow in starved animals and fast in fed ones, especially if the diet is high in carbohydrate and low in fat. The activities of several enzymes involved in lipogenesis, including L-type pyruvate kinase (L-PK) and malice enzyme (ME) have similar patterns.
