What is the difference among Free Electron Theory and Band Theory of solids?
Free Electron Theory:
This theory says that, metals conduct electricity due to the presence of free electrons in it. The outermost shells of metal atoms will be loosely bound with their nucleus. So the electrons in it are free to move anywhere in the solid.
These electrons are known as free electrons and these electrons are responsible for the conduction of electricity.
A ray of light travelling in air is incident on a prism and passes through it with a speed of 2X10 8 ms -1 parallel to its base. If the angle of refraction is similar to half of
Derive the mathematical equation for the couple acting on a bar magnet in a uniform magnetic field and thus deduce the definition of magnetic moment?
