What is the difference among Free Electron Theory and Band Theory of solids?
Free Electron Theory:
This theory says that, metals conduct electricity due to the presence of free electrons in it. The outermost shells of metal atoms will be loosely bound with their nucleus. So the electrons in it are free to move anywhere in the solid.
These electrons are known as free electrons and these electrons are responsible for the conduction of electricity.
Q. What is the dissimilarity between isolation transformers and step up or step down transformer? Answer:- In fact an isolation transformer may be physically the same as a
The conductivity of an extrinsic semiconductor (A) Decreases with temperature. (B) Increases with temperature. (C) Remains constant with temperature. (D) Decrea
Q. Can you define Solar Constant? The luminosity of the Sun L is 3.827×10 26 Watts. When the Sun is straight overhead on a clear day how many watts would we expect to illumina
Q. Give the applications of Moseley's law. (i) The elements are organized in the periodic table according to the atomic numbers and not according to the atomic weights. (ii
Light coupling: Another way to look at light guiding in a fibre is to measure the fibre's acceptance angle. This angle is the angle within which the light should enter the fib
Is it possible to see your whole body in a flat, planar mirror that is LESS THAN half your height if the mirror is at an angle? (i.e. not parallel to your body)
Very thin glass sheets are used to form these capacitors. The sheets are interleaved with aluminium foil and fused together to forms a solid block. These capacitors are smaller in
Heater Another form of heater can be made from an old oil tin. Iron wire is wrapped round a test tube and twisted to form a handle.
Question: The resistance-per-length of the wire is wire's resistivity. Answer: Resistivity has units of ohms per meter therefore as regards wire it is certainly natur
