Define Fats - Nutritional Components

Once the body stops eating, it begins to live on its fat. Fat storing depots 'adipocytes' are located in the different parts of the body. It gives twice the amount of energy than carbohydrates. It helps to remain as a blanket which keeps us warm during cold seasons. The storage under skin helps this process. It helps to anchor kidneys and other organs. The fat around joints, muscle fibres etc. acts as a cushion to prevent the injury.
