Define Elongation phase - mechanism of protein synthesis?
Elongation: RNA polymerase moves along the DNA and sequential synthesizes the RNA chain. There is the repeated cycle of amino acid addition this process involves 3 steps.
i) Aminoacyl -t RNA delivery
ii) Peptide bond formation, and
iii) Translocation.
Three elongation factors along with GTP are also involved.
